Not bad for the $

I have had this gate, and another standard gate by Regalo for a few months now. The gates are pretty decent, for what they cost. I would not buy them again, however.Regalo gives you the option to screw the gates into the wall so that they stay in place. We don't have any stairs (its required for stairs) so I opted out of this not wanting to patch and repaint my wall. They do say that the gates wiill stay better if its mounted, but the wall mounts are not required to keep the gate in place. We ended up placing the gates directly in the jam and tighted them as much as they would go, per the instructions. We have a 4 family home, and get a fair amount of traffic through the gates. If you bump them too hard, or your 1 year old decides to shake them in a manner similar to one trying to be released from prison THE GATES WILL COME LOOSE, not only will they come loose THEY WILL TAKE THE PAINT FROM THE WALL WITH THEM. Thus defeating the whole not wanting to repair/repaint dilema to begin with.Since either way you attach the gate there is a good chance you will have to repair/repaint I recommend using the wall mounts. This way when your kids (and they will) walk into the gate and not through it, or shake it in an attempt to escape their cell, the gate will remain in place.***Side note, remember a 1 yr old can knock the gate down with enough persistance.

Perfect!

This item is great. It comes with additional side pieces that make it adjustable for any sized opening. There is no permanent mounting equipment, but the adjustable mounts are really easy to use and actually holds pretty strong. My husband and I have bumped into the gate pretty hard at times when we aren't looking where we are going and it hasn't fallen down. The mounts are also good for different width situations, because each one can be adjusted in and out as needed (for example: on baseboard, versus wall.) The door closure is super easy to open, even with one finger... I had to do that when carrying in groceries. The height would be good for large dogs, and it is perfect for my jumpers. It would be good for toddlers too, so long as they can't reach the easy door mechanism.

Great gate

Bought this gate to corral our dogs and it is working great so far. It is a very nice extra tall height and very solidly attaches to the opening where we placed it. Instructions are relatively easy to follow and also the price is very good on this gate for the quality. Does usually take two hands to properly latch the gate but feels secure.
