Very Disappointed With Quality and Overall Experience With Graco

Like most of the people on here I choose an item based on reviews. Unfortunately the swings they have locally are very limited in choice and are very expensive. I have had great experience with Graco in the past but that has changed in the last month. When I ordered the Lexi Graco Glider Petite LX Gliding Swing I could not wait any longer than I needed to so I upgraded to next day shipping. When the swing arrived, the box was in great condition so that was a good start. Setting up the swing was very easy and it was ready to go within 30 minutes. Since I was not sure how fast each setting was, I tested them out before I put my baby in. At first i was surprised at how fast the swing was going even on level 1. However, I was relieved to find out that once your baby's weight has been added to the swing, it slows it down considerably.Settings 1-3 were useless for my baby who is 11 lbs. If the swing cannot maintain the level selected the motor speeds up and then slows down. It does this repeatedly so I just kept it on 4. Settings 4-6 were identical but I felt safest on 4. Regardless of the level you choose, the motor is extremely noisy. It sounds like it is struggling to go uphill and it clicks every time it goes back. From the other reviews it seemed as though this was normal but to me it was too loud.One week later, the swing needed me to help push it along so it could maintain the proper speed setting. At this point, the motor was even louder so I knew something was not right. I contacted Graco support via phone and I was told they didn't have the parts in stock but they could get me the left leg that had the motor in it. I told them that was the only part I really needed and they said it would take at least four weeks! Now who here can wait even a few days? I told them no thank you and that I would return it to Amazon. They told me that it was probably a defective motor which has been affecting a lot of these glider swing but they were not sure why. They were sure that the next one I received would be okay as long as the assemble date on the registration card was August 2012 or later. Well unfortunately I would not be able to know for sure until I received the next swing.I returned this swing and got another one. Well wouldn't you know it, this one right out of the box didn't swing at all. I called Graco and they told me that it was probably due to a safetly feature that shuts down the motor when it detects too much movement from the baby. I told them I just assembled it and the very first time I turned it on, it did not work. But they insisted that I turn off the swing, unplug it and wait three minutes. After three minutes, plug it back in and it still doesn't move. Graco then asked me if I was sure I unplug it and that it was three minutes. Hmmm, yep I am pretty sure I unplugged it and I was on the phone the whole time so they knew how long it had been.. Anyway, their customer service is horrible but that's not what I am here to talk about. I am going to return this swing and start my search over for a better swing. I really wanted to love this swing. I like that the seat was very big and comfortable and I liked the front to back movement as well.UPDATE: I decided to give Graco one more try and purchased the Peyton Graco Glider LX Gliding Swing. It had nothing but 5 star reviews and they all said the motor was quiet. Well guess what, that motor was dead upon arrival too! So you can't get much quieter than that. And this had an assemble date of Jan 2013. When I called about this, I was told that the product was too new and that they didn't have replacement parts available yet. First, how are parts not avail yet? Second, how about a whole new swing after it is fully tested?? The amount of time and money spent on these Graco Swings has been unacceptable. Having to break down and repack each swing and take it to UPS was a complete waste of time that I should have been spending with my baby girl. Honestly, how can three Graco swings all have motor issues? I hope the other reviewers who have these swings don't have these issues later on. I can almost bet they will be on here the day after their warranty expires.

Worst...Speaker....Ever (A Fiona Video Review)

He said it was "pretty easy" and didn't require any tools; it just snapped together. The pieces went together intuitively and the instructions were easy to follow.Let's get the negatives out of the way first. The speaker on this swing is horrible; even compared to the standard baby toy speaker, this one is exceptionally bad. The music is hollow and the nature sounds are worse. The babbling brook sounds like a leaky toilet and the rain sounds like static. The swing itself is loud. I was surprised that it made any noise, as many of the larger swings of this type are silent. I actually find the monotonous swinging sound kind of soothing and relaxing.The footprint of the swing isn't that much smaller than a full sized baby swing, this one is only shorter. The nice thing about the low swing is I can sit on the floor comfortably next to baby while she is swinging. With the full sized swing, I'm too tall standing but too short sitting, so I always end up on my knees which can get uncomfortable.The seat is very plush and deep, so I feel like the baby is very secure in the swing, even without the easy-to-use five point harness system. The weight recommendations for this swing is between 5.5 lbs and 25 lbs. My daughter is 6 months and almost 17 lbs and fits comfortably in the swing. I wish the manual included a suggested length maximum, but only says to discontinue use when infants "attempts to climb out or reaches 25 pounds."My full sized swing rocks with a left to right motion; this one uses front to back motion, which I think is more akin to the way a baby would be rocked in your arms. She enjoys being in the swing and has no trouble falling asleep while swinging.The toy bar is easy to place and remove (as long as you are not trying to do it while the swing is in motion) and the plush stars easily pull on and off via Velcro. This makes them easy to wash once you get them out of your baby's mouth.Unlike many infant swings, this one has both a battery and wall outlet option. This is really nice as you will find that once you become a parent, you will buy more batteries then you ever thought any household would need. My only concern is the plug does not seem to insert itself completely into the swing. (See customer image)Overall, I'm thrilled with this swing, as is my daughter. If the speaker were just a little better, I would have given it five stars.
