Best bouncy chair ever

As grandmother of eight, I've seen many styles of bouncy chairs. This one is the best ever! Purchased for our newest granddaughter, it has a sturdily designed base, is attractive (finally no gaudy animals) and includes a "head rest" for the first few months.Grandma Pam

OK, but...

It is an OK seat, but here are some things you have to know before buying it:1. It is NOT made of 100% cotton. There is no cotton at all, it's all polyester. Very soft and nice, but not cotton. I think Amazon should correct the mistake in the description. All other seats I found were also made of polyester, looks like there is no way to get anything natural.2. The canopy is NOT detachable. This makes it quite challenging for washer/dryer. I have a pretty big washer, so the seat cover fits even with the canopy (and the canopy is flexible, so it washes OK). But I didn't even try to put the whole thing into the dryer. It's very inconvenient for an infant seat, since accidents happen all the time. Also, the whole process of taking the cover off the seat and putting it bask is kind of challenging.3. The vibration turns off automatically after about 20 min (or may be 30 min). Probably, music does the same, but we never use it. Sometimes when the vibration turns off it makes the sleeping baby wake up.I didn't return it, because my baby likes it and I decided not to risk. It is light-weight and good-looking. But non-detachable canopy and polyester instead of cotton were a big surprise.

It's okay

I chose the "It's okay" rating because while it is a pretty print in neutral tones, the seat isn't very deep and it doesn't "cradle" and hold the baby as well as other bouncers I've had. I used my other bouncers from the time my other kids were newborn but I couldn't use this until my daughter was 4-5 weeks old because it didn't cradle her and keep her in the seat really well. She slid down, even with the straps. The seat doesn't cradle and it sits upright too much.Also, and I knew this when I purchased it, but it doesn't have any toys hanging from the canopy. I like that it looks nice sitting in my living room and isn't super bright colors I do wish they would've hung little toys, two or three, from the canopy.

Better than Bumbo

I have this seat and the bumbo. Here's my observation of my 3 1/2 month son in each:BUMBO+ Made of sturdy polyeurophane (sp?) lightweight- No attached toys (might be a good thing if you are picky able what goes in the mouth)- Child often drops toys on floor even when there's a tray attached causing frustration- Leg opening really tight on chubbier legsSUMMER INFANTACTIVITY SEAT+ Attached toys give child something to look at, grab and mouth+ Don't need to keep picking up toys off the floor+ Can attach other toys to prexisting ones+ All the perks or an exersauer without taking up a lot of room- Made of cheap platic- Paint comes off toys over time (it's made in the USA so no lead, but still)I think the bumbo is popular because it's industructable and serves its purpose well (helps non-sitters sit), but if your child is like mine he/she will get really frustrated that he/she is stuck in this chair with nothing to do (except try to escape to retreave his dropped toys). Even though the Summer Infant seat is cheaply made, your child will most likely enjoy sitting in it (at least long enough for you to take a shower).

Even if your baby can't sit up yet...

I bought this for my son just shy of his 3rd month. He could hold up his head up very well, but couldn't sit up at all. This was perfect for him. The seat is close fitting offering support throughout the leg and hip area. The sides come up high around the baby, which also offered support to prevent leaning over. The base is sturdy and I have had no problems with tipping over or anything.It comes with a formed foam insert for use when the baby is smaller and needs a little extra support. I didn't need to use this because mine was big enough body-wise to fill out the seat by itself. It also comes with a tray that is a complete circle around the seat, which serves three purposes. It locks the child in (along with the seat belt), it has two cup holders with a space to lay snacks, and it comes with four toys that attach securely to it. My son is VERY strong for his age and has not managed to pull any of them off.I also had room on the tray to add a couple of those spinning suction toys.When not needed, the tray can be removed completely and you can just buckle the baby in.

Excellent - Helped 3 month old develop sitting/core muscles

I purchased this seat for my son when he was almost 3 months old. I chose it over the bumbo as I liked the idea of the tray with the attached toys, and I considered it to have a very secure base. He already had extremely strong neck muscles (he held up his head briefly the night he was born), and had some strength around sitting up, but without support, always slipped, so I thought a seat would work well for him. The seat has a large stable base, provides a lot of support on the sides, and the inner foam insert orange seat provides a lot of additional support when the baby is quite young. We used this for a full month (his third month) before we relocated and couldn't take it with us. In that month, however, my son very quickly started developing his core/sitting muscles and by his fourth month he could sit up fairly well (but not completely unassisted, that took another month). After a gap, we used this same seat when he was 9 months old and 22 lbs: He still fit in the seat with the foam insert, and I used it as a makeshift feeding seat (worked, but the toys got a lot of food on them).The tray: Rotates, with four securely attached toys. Has a section for two little removeable cups that presumably would hold small snacks, etc. We were pre-snack food age when we used this seat, so they were never used. There's a lock at the back of the seat that would prevent the tray section from rotating, if necessary. Tray takes a bit of practice to slide on, but isn't very tricky once you've practiced it a few times. There's a little slide-out section that provides for the baby to be placed in and taken out -- you have to be a little bit careful not to pinch the baby's fingers, but just like when you place the tray on your highchair, it's no big deal.The toys: A spinning ladybug mirror (very liked), a spinning bee with two little balls inside for visual and auditory stimulation (very very liked), a butterfly that can be pulled toward the baby for chewing on and a bee with a couple of rings to be played with. These spinning toys are the standard against which all spinning toys are judged by my son: He really likes them. Now that he is almost one year old, I wish I could install them elsewhere for him to continue to play with them. I saw him really develop his spinning skills/finger dexterity. He became an expert at spinning either the ladybug mirror or the bee spinner and we'd always laugh to see him flick his thumb to ever so efficiently spin the little bee. (He's better than I am, let's say.) Now at almost a year, he still stops by this seat while in the midst of running around in order to play briefly with the toys (fond memories). The toys seat very securely and have never been removed by my son. We used Fisher Price Linkaroos to attach to the butterfly wings to attach a few other toys, and when he was smaller to allow him to pull on the Linkaroos to pull the butterfly closer to him.Booster seat: The seat also has the belts for converting it to a booster seat taped-in underneath, for later convenience, I assume. However, we don't have a chair with a large enough seating area to use it as a booster seat -- the seating area is supposed to be at least as large as the base of the seat. We're not going to use the booster seat aspect of this product.Overall, we were extremely pleased with our purchase. I feel it was the best baby seating choice we could have made.

This is a great booster:-The seat is padded and comfortable-It's very easy to clean and (so far) doesn't stain-The bottom doesn't scratch your chair-Straps to the chair and has an optional lap belt-The funky colors are kind of cool (I have the orange)Overall a really well designed seat: functional and stylish.

Comfortable but not perfect

We got this chair for my son's second birthday. It's very stylish looking and he thought it was very comfortable. However, I found the straps to attach it to the chair confusing (and the instructions were not helpful). He could also easily get out of the lap straps. The seat was easy to clean however food did end up between the base and the comfy seat - it was fairly easy to get out but I wished the two pieces were fused together in some way to avoid this food trap.

Great Find!

Couldn't stand the look of a high chair so have been using a booster seat with the clip on tray. It was finally time to move our 19 month old to the table so we bought this booster despite seeing some mixed reviews. I like this chair so much that I actually took the time to write a review.Some people commented on the high price. We actually got it cheaper at Bed Bath & Beyond. Even though the item gets mailed to your house, you have to actually go to the store to order it if you want to use one of those 20% off coupons they send nearly every month. Still was $10 cheaper even with tax and shipping.Others commented that their kid could climb out of it. It looks like there are several models available. This one has a 5 point latch system (shoulder and waist straps) while some of the others only have waist straps. Make sure to check! I erroneously ordered the waist strap only version first but luckily realized my mistake early and was able to change my order.Still others said food gets trapped between the seat and the base. I haven't found that to be a problem as this is the ONLY place where food can get trapped (unlike most highchairs/boosters where food gets trapped in a million places). If food does get trapped, it's VERY easy to clean as the seat easily separates from the base.Finally, unlike some other boosters, this seat actually straps to your chair and is very secure. It's comfortable and looks great in our house (again, unlike most highchairs/boosters). Our son was at the perfect height and the lip on the bottom of the table didn't get in the way of his little thighs at all. I'd suggest also getting the Kiddopotamus TinyDiner placemat to protect your table! I would definitely recommend this chair and only wish I had found it months ago.UPDATE: Have now used this for 3 months (our child is nearly 2 yo). We stopped using the shoulder straps pretty quickly- they don't stay on very well unless very snug, and as they aren't padded they are uncomfortable and our son doesn't like them. We haven't had any problems with him being able to get out of the seat. Our table has a lip underneath it, though, so his legs can't wiggle enough to allow him to escape.As far as cleanup, you can lift the FRONT of the seat up off the base to wipe away any stray food, but you can't separate the two completely without undoing a bunch of straps. This hasn't been a problem as food only collects in the front (and even then, not very often when we use the Kiddopotamus).Finally, the "blueberry" color is more black, so be forewarned if you don't want a very dark chair.I'd still take this over any other alternative booster that straps to a chair. It looks great, fits well (if you ignore the shoulder straps) and is easy to clean.

BEWARE THE PHOTO!

Please beware that the photo advertising this sling shows a baby positioned EXACTLY how the manufacturer tells you NOT to position him!This sling is almost identical to the Infantino SlingRider, which was recalled several months ago after 3 babies died in them. The babies were positioned like in the photo: curled into a C, with chin drooping toward the chest. This can close a baby's airway, and has been shown to lower blood oxygenation levels, and ultimately, can be fatal.This sling may be adequate for an older baby who can sit upright in it, but PLEASE do not put your newborn in it as shown in the photo! If you read the instruction manual, it actually tells you not to do this, so it is incredibly irresponsible of the manufacturer to use this photo to advertise the product. Research safe baby wearing and buy a sling that keeps your baby pressed into your body, with his head supported to keep the airway open.

Glad I Bought this Product, Comfy

I recieved this product yesterday. I tested it out with my 2 month old boy as soon as I opened it. He immediately calmed down once in the pouch. I didn't realize at first that you need to wear the sling high on you. You need to be able to easily kiss your baby's forehead. It's the biggest thing Dr. Sears urges for this product, having learned that from watching one of his YouTube Safety videos. But it doesn't highlight that in the directions. The adjustable strap is only so long, but if you need to get the carrier higher on you (for you more petite peeps) it is perfectly fine to pull more fabric through the rings to get it as comfortable as possible for you and your baby. (Don't adjust strap while baby is in sling to prevent pinching.) He seems to mello out every time I place him in the sling. His neck is still unstable so I do keep one hand over his neck when moving around with it, atleast until he's a little older.I love the design. Very fashionable and cute. I purchased the solid black color to savor my husband's masculinity for when he uses it, but I really do love the colorful ones with those beautiful patterns. Not to say that the black isn't cute and sleek in it's own right, because it is. The material is soft and the shoulder pad is thick and comfy.Another thing I love about it is that unlike the other carrier I have(Infantino Front2Back Rider), with this one I can get him out of the sling easily and very quickly. A concern of mine was that I have chronic back problems, but surprisingly with this product my baby seems light and it doesn't agitate my back whatsoever. And the rings do not dig into my shoulders like I have seen on other reviews. Wearing the sling high and correctly should take care of those problems--be sure to read all the instructions before using. (There are demonstration videos on YouTube for how to place your baby for each type of carry. The manual instructions are good, but it's even more helpful to SEE it done.) Overall, I like this product and am glad I bought this one and not another brand or type of sling. I look forward to using it in the coming months.UPDATE:Once my baby started weighing more, I found that I couldn't carry him endlessly in this sling like when he was lighter. At 8 lbs, I could carry him around for an hour, easy. But once he started closing near 14 lbs I found myself getting uncomfortable within 15 minutes. Now that he weighs 19 lbs I use this product for temporary uses, such as a quick run into a store or getting chores done around the house. As for fairs and other longer occasions I just stick with the stroller now. Although I do keep the Balboa under the stroller, just incase. There have been times I've been very thankful to have the Balboa Pouch with me, so I still recommend it. It's great to know there are options for getting around with baby!!

Easy to use and baby finds it comfortable

I have tried several other carriers/slings/wraps, such as the Moby, baby bjorn, and Minchkin sling. I like the Moby because it is comfortable, but it is hard to put on, hard to get baby in and out of, and my son didn't like the feeling go being so confined. He does like Baby Bjorn, but after awhile it is uncomfortable for me and it seems to restrict my mobility. The Munchin sling was too tight or too big, which is why I like the adjustable sling of the Balboa. My 4-month old son is comfortable in it, and he doesn't feel squished, I carry him upright in the front or cuddle style, and it has worked fine. It is super easy getting him in and out. When reviewing the product there were some concerns a few years ago about the use of the sling for newborns and improper positioning; I think these concerns are valid because the pocket is really big and can turn into a "sac". I think the company has updated its instructions about positioning, but I still think this sling is best for babies with a little more head control than the average newborn; actually, I think the Moby is ideal during this newborn stage, Overall, I feel the Balboa is safe and my son and I are happy that we have found an easy to use carrier,

Cute and functional

I bought this high chair yesterday at a retailer (not Amazon), but wanted to come on here to review because I usually purchase items online. This highchair is very cute and functional. I really wanted a "modern" high chair and this does not really fit that bill but I decided in the end, functionality was going to win over looking good.I needed a chair I could easily roll from my eat in kitchen table to my dining room. I looked at the Oxo high chair, which I loved how it looked, but it was SO short and did not have any height adjustments. I also checked out the Boon high chair, which is a bit higher and has adjustments, but the base was huge and does not have wheels. It can easily be gripped to carry from one room to another, but it's awkwardly shaped and a bit heavy to carry from room to room.I love that the top tray pops right off to easily clean and the material of the seat wipes off in a flash. I love the cute animal print, too.The height adjustment is great, it practically goes to the ground, so we popped my son in there and rolled him into the living room so he could easily watch his daddy put together his new jumperoo. My son is currently 4 1/2 months old and can already sit in it since the seat reclines. He is still too short to really see over the tray, and I did see a review saying that her 2 year old daughter cannot see over the tray but I honestly don't see how that is possible. I think that by the time he is able to feed himself, he will have grown enough to see over the tray and be able to reach his food. If not, I'll put a folded towel under him so he can reach. No biggie.I could have easily gotten a cheaper high chair, like a Graco, but the difference in quality of materials is obvious. I wanted something that would last longer and be able to hopefully be used with a second child. It also folds pretty compactly. I haven't yet used this to feed my child, but I'm looking forward to it!

Love this chair - was shocked there are so few reviews

We love this chair for one two main reasons - no fabric and chair easily rolls. Fabric and eating do not go well with babies, so I'm amazed these products even exist. who has time to wash a chair cushion, even if other cushions/brands are machine washable? We have yet to find a high chair that has good wheels and easy to move (we move our babies around the kitchen when we cook), has no fabric and can easily be wiped with a rag, and has a cup holder. (Your baby/toddler will like this feature, parents could have cared less.) We haven't had any issues with the chair and like the straps as our babies got older and needed to be straped in for safety. Was worth the money, especially how long you have a high chair and use 3-4 times a day. Would be nice if straps could clean easier because they don't come off chair from what I could tell, but nearly two years in use and holding up great! Seat doesn't look worn and hasn't torn.

Materials are quality, but there are critical cons to consider

I received this chair as a hand me down and while the hard goods was in great condition, the chair cover was peeling apart which made it so easy for food to get stuck inside the fabric of the chair. It does have a lot of crevices which makes it difficult to clean.Pros:- Removable try makes it easy to take off and wash in the sink (will not fit in the dishwasher).- Chair can move up and down the entire frame so there are many height options.- Folds so that you can store it (we never do)- Rolls smoothlyCons:- Tray is too high for my 16 month old. We used it when he was 8 months old and added lots of towels underneath his seat to elevate him, but even 8 months later it's still a little too high for him.- Tray does leave a gap between his tummy and the tray's inside edge which leaves lots of room for food to drop into his lap- Chair fabric is difficult to clean and comes apart over time. only one flaw

I got this chair for my sons second birthday and we all loved it. It works great and my son literally uses it everyday and even took a nap on it! My only problem (minor) is that it doesn't have a handle to recline (you have to push the head back to make it recline). My son keeps looking for the handle and asks for it because he sees that we have one on our own recliners.

My grandkids love it!

The chair is wonderful! I'm exceedingly grateful that it was wrapped in plastic inside the box. Wasn't home when it was delivered and left outside the door in a rainstorm. By the time we got home, the box was literally falling apart. Fortunately the chair stayed dry.

Cheap

This was awesome when I first received it, my son just loved his new "big boy" chair. He loved the heck out of it. I thought it was the greatest. But then trying to recline the darn thing is difficult, you can feel the resistance like it wanted to break and fall apart already, like you were forcing the chair to do something it wasn't supposed to do- but its a frigging recliner! It's what it is supposed to be made to do! We have had it for only three months and it is now already broken. The back keeps falling down, way past recline "mode". There are also these super sharp pins sticking out of the back where the fabric is peeling away, they look like little knives. SO not safe. This is a cheap recliner for the rediculous amount of money they are asking for. It should only be $20. Sure, it is cute, but once it starts being utilized it is no good. The cushioning in a three month period of time is already flattened out and gross looking and looks uncomfortable now. I do not recommend this one to anyone unless you want to buy another recliner for your little one right away. If you buy this recliner you are buying what I would call a "cute yet dangerous piece of trash for more money than it is worth". Save yourself money and get something else. I wish I would have.

Meets my expectations!!

I had been looking for a high chair for my grandson. I wanted it to fit him until he is ready to graduate from a high chair, I wanted it to be plastic, so it could be cleaned and sanitized easily, and above all, it needed to be safe. I run a preschool/child care out of my home, so any high chair I bought, had to meet certain safety standards, which include legs with a wide spread to prevent tipping. This high chair met all the above criteria :) It also has an easily removable cloth seat/back pad, it turns into a toddler chair, it has a 5 point harness, and a leg divider on the tray when it is attached, so baby can`t slip through. I really love this chair!

Great sturdy chair!

I like that this is a big enough chair. I intend to use it for a long time as it can be used by a 5-6 year old too. It has a five point harness which is good for kids who move a lot or like to climb out. The belt cannot be undone by a child, that's for sure! The chair height is good and can be later adjusted to a standard sized dining table when the child is big enough to join the family meal. The best feature is the foot rest. All in all...a very good looking, sturdy, big, and comfy chair for children 1 year to 5 years old. Two more things...The chair pad is machine washable and the tray is very big. My baby can even play legos on the 10X10 lego mat on top of it. Excellent!

Don't Make The Same Mistake I Did

My grandson tops the messy list. I learned the hard way that buying an inexpensive high chair with an unremovable seatpad is a very bad idea. For just a bit more money, this should have been my first consideration and purchase. Now food cleanup is so much easier--every part of the high chair is washable, right down to a dishwasher safe tray. No more hidden food debris in those hard-to-clean cushion corners, thanks to a machine washable seat pad. Baby's still a mess, but at least the chair stays clean.The chair easily converts into a toddler chair (weight limit 50 lbs) and is height-adjustable. It doesn't fold as flat as the inexpensive one, but adequately stores away. Assembly is idiot-proof. It is virtually impossible to put the wrong screw in any hole while assembling. Instructions even include actual-sized fastener pictures for comparison purposes.I've learned my lesson. Easy cleaning takes top priority when it comes to high chairs. Five stars for that alone.
