Quality product, like old-school table cloths

I bought a few of these splat mats by SugarBooger because I wanted something under my son's high chair that was quality material. I also wanted a few around the house because he was potty training, and it helped minimize the messes. I think the price of $24-$30 is a bit high, but I guess that's the price of something really good. I don't know if they make table cloths like they used to when I was kid, but these splat mats remind me of that: the vinyl top with cotton underside. If your parents or older relatives have those type of table clothes/picnic clothes laying around, that would be a cheaper and similar alternative to these. But of course, these mats have prettier designs and come with a case.

great

It took almost 6 weeks to get this (although I knew that ahead of time), but so far is definitely worth the wait. My little boy spills a lot with eating, and I used to mop my floor constantly. With this, my mess clean up time is much better. It's strong, durable, and the right size, and the other day I litterally just had to hang it outside and hose it off to clean it up. Comes in a nice pouch, not a strong plastic odor with it.

Returned it without use

I ordered this mat because it was cute and received good reviews. I intended to put it under a plastic picnic table in my kitchen. First, the mat is very thin and slippery, so the table would slide on the mat just as it would my tile floor. Secondly, because it was folded up, it was bent throughout the mat, making it look cheap. I primarily returned this, because I think the mat is worth $10 in construction, not the $30 for which it is priced. It would maybe just fit under a high chair, but if your kid throws food, it would be of no help. I went back to using my foam block mat, which prevents sliding. Not worth the price.

LOVE this!

We received this as a gift for our baby before she arrived... I loved it so much, I bought one for my future niece!! I have used this almost everyday (our baby is now 6 months old). When she was really small, I liked how it allowed her to lay more flat than the bouncers (but can also be adjusted for more incline). I could put her in it and rock her with my foot (so I could eat dinner and she would be comforted). The vibration is soothing for her, but she doesn't always require it. It travels well as we took it with us during our holiday travels --it can compact down (which is important because there wasn't that much room in the car with everything else) and it's VERY light (so we can move it from room to room, and house to house with ease)! I really like the convertibility of the product --that it can be a rocker OR a chair, AND has different levels of incline. I am also excited that it has such a high poundage capacity (many of her baby items only go to 15 or 25 pounds, whereas this one goes to 35 or 40, I believe), so she will be able to use it for a couple years (instead of just a few months)! The arm swivels out of the way and can be removed and attached easily. She likes the toys (and started to 'sit up' to reach for them at 4 1/2 months). I've already washed and dried the seat a few times, and it's held up well thus far. So grateful for a product that can go in the washer and dryer vs. spot clean only! I did hear of one baby that didn't care for it, but I would not want to be without this item!! We have used it more than her swing, bouncer, AND nap nanny (all of which she has now outgrown)!

Okay but not thrilling...

I purchased this rocker for my 7 month old baby. Previously, my baby would recline in a bouncer, which he loved. He would bounce like crazy but now he has gotten a little big for the bouncer so I thought he would enjoy the rocker but the rocker barely rocks at all and the rocking motion is jerky because of the built in stops on the bottom of the rocker. We use it only as a chair not a rocker. I wouldn't buy this again.

Love love this chair for home and travel

This is one of the most useful items I have bought. I bought it for my son (our first baby) at 7 months old as we were planning our first long trip. Really, it was so nice to have a chair with us for wherever we were, whether at a restaurant, or just at his greatgrandmother's house where there's zero baby equipment. We like to find local "hole in the wall" places to eat, and no matter what the old style of table we were at, this chair clamped right on. Easy to use (the screwing on/off of the clamps sometimes feels like it takes forever), easy to clean, comfortable. One reason I bought this over other similar style chairs was the amount of padding, the ability to remove the cover for washing (even a first time mom knows that is necessary for a baby item), the storage bag. We tried a chicco chair, the cool rotating one, but the clamp arms were soooo long, it did not work on any of our tables. This chair has worked on everything we've tried it on, including my breakfast bar which only has a 8" overhang. I have a regular freestanding highchair, and it got quickly packed away because this chair not only saves an incredible amount of space, it also lets our son actually be at the table with us. The only downfall was how easy it was to lose food between the edge of the table and his belly, the tray on a regular high chair is nice for that. But I recently bought the Summer Infant Tinydiner Place Mat with the little pouch, and it works great with this chair (a tip, use the fat paper clips or the small little black paper clamps to keep food pouch from sagging). Overall, one of the best baby items I have. We use it regularly in the house and decided to buy a second one for the car especially as summer comes and we'll be doing more picnicing and deck BBQs, this chair will be able to adapt to whatever table we're eating at.

Some inconveniences, but still a great product!

Here is the cool thing about this: You can attach it to pretty much any table and it takes up less room than a high chair. It is really cute and comfortable. I don't worry about her safety because it screws on the table securely and is high enough that she can't easily climb out of it. She really likes it and it is easy to put her in/out.Here are the frustrations: I was hoping we could travel with this this to restaurants, friends houses, etc. instead of using their high chairs but the install takes too long to be used for that purpose. I wish it had an easy snap-on feature, but there are long "screws" that you have to manually use to secure it, so it is not something that you want to regularly take on and off. Second, the material is not easy to clean like plastic is. Every couple of weeks I have to completely take it apart and wash it. Third, there is a pretty big gap between the chair and the table so when baby drops food, it falls on the floor rather than stays on a table or a tray. We lose a lot of food this way!

Absolute lifesaver

I have a smaller than normal baby (16 lbs @ 9 mo), who is eating full meals of solids. Once she started eating real foods entirely and not baby goo anymore, we started trying to figure out how to feed her on the go. First, restaurant high chairs are pretty much the worst thing ever. First, they were WAY too big - she always ended up slouching, no tray so food fell everywhere, depending on the place she may not even be able to reach the table so I'd end up hand-feeding her pieces at a time, which she hated. So, I went back to the drawing board and figured I'd get a hook-on. This one had the best reviews and was reasonably priced, so I gave it a shot.First, the chair is just the right size and fits her perfectly - no more slouching baby, and she can reach the table quite well. Once you hook it on, the thing is rock solid and I haven't worried about safety. Having the carry bag built in was a stroke of genius, it so so easy to bring in somewhere, unpack and attach and then repack when done. The clamps can be super easy or a real pain depending on the angles you're working with - if you have enough space to get them spinning it can take mere moments to attach, but if you're working in tight quarters and had to open them wide you might be cursing the thing by the time both are firmly attached.I also got the Tiny Diner, thinking the combo would be perfect to catch the fallout. Well, the Tiny Diner is too wide for the arms of this chair - so I've set it aside to try later. We tried putting the Tiny Diner wings under the clamps, but it seemed unstable and I didn't want to deal with it. We tried putting the wings over the clamps and baby (who isn't a big puller) pretty much flipped the Tiny Diner in about 10 seconds flat.The system we ended up with has been perfect - we're using the Tommee Tippee placemat with suction, the sectioned plate, and the bib with a crumb-catcher. We hook the chair on with just enough room between the table and the front strap for the crumb-catcher, and hang it on the loosest setting around her neck so it sits between the table and the front strap. If baby eats well, everything ends up in the crumb-catcher. If not, well, it is a baby after all. :)About a week after we started playing around with this thing, we had to go on an unexpected week-long plane trip out of town. We ate in restaurants or hotel breakfast areas exclusively for 6 days. Seriously, this system saved our hides. I can't imagine trying to get baby the nutrition she needed from real meals without this thing. We didn't find a single table anywhere that this didn't work out on. It fit easily in one side of our carry-on. Without it, I would have been, I dunno, hand-feeding her a bite at a time I guess since she couldn't reach a table from the high chair? It was so nice for her to go into so many different places and get so many different foods, but have her trusty chair and plate combo. She sat happily through family meals, and I got to eat and visit while she ate away. Mess was minimized, and even if we ate in our hotel room we had something for her to use.This is pretty much the best thing I've bought for the baby in months. I had to convince myself it was worth buying something new that we might not use for that long, but this had already proved itself worth the price many times over.UPDATE Dec 2012:I still rave about this product. I've washed it in the washing machine (air-dried) and thrown it around the backseat and trunk of our car - good as new. Still haven't found a table it doesn't fit. Still get compliments wherever we go about how clever it is. A+!

Great chair, as one piece or two!

I've had this chair for 18 months now, use it every day, multiple times, to feed my daughter. It is amazing, big enough for her to sit comfortably, has big double tray that I can take off while she's eating and clean it. It is very sturdy, we do have to tighten up the bolts once in a while to keep it sturdy only because she likes to shake, jump and squirm more now as she gets bigger. It is also great as two pieces for whenever she wants to color or play on her laptop. As a highchair, it is elevated enough so she can see the food on the dinner table and ask for it. I would definitely recommend it if you're planning to use it for years to come.P.S.You can also order replacement parts for this chair at no charge on the company's website! After 17 months of usage I had a main tray replaced because I lifted the chair up holding it by the tray,and of course couple pieces broke. It was still sliding on/off but I wanted a new one since it is free to get,not even a shipping cost.Update:My daughter will be 3 years old in a couple of months and this chair is still going strong! Now we use it more without the tray and she sits very comfortably on it eating meals with everyone else and takes food from the table without having to ask one of us to hand it to her. I think for the price we paid 3 years ago it is worth it.

plastic galore

its plastic all over, theres sharp edges, its so light it prefers to slide over the floor rather than pushing the table into place when baby has been placed in his seat. seat and harness seems to slide out of the chair leaving baby lying half way downassembly was okfabric clean up easily, and table has a tray on it that comes off for easy cleaning as well...that the most positive thing i can say about this producti would not recommend this to anyone

Good idea- But Wobbling

The idea is ideal and it is good and practical to use. But the whole thing is made of out of plastic (pvc) even the joints. The joint bolts go loose after a while and you have to tight it regularly, otherwise, the whole thing shakes and you do not know when it falls apart. I love the idea but they have to reinforce the joints to make this product safe. I wish I return this product but I throw the original packet. The price also was not cheap.

Great chair for a little one

This chair is so cute, my 11 month old loves it! It's light weight but sturdy. The only thing I would change is the color. We ordered the green chair thinking it would be a soft green, but the green is more like neon green.

Cute for sitting still...

I bought this chair for my 1.5 year old son. It's totally cute and he took to it right away! One of the legs is a bit off giving the chair a slight wobble, but not enough that it's concerning or unsturdy.This chair is great for sitting, it's roomy and the seat has a lot of cushioning. The back of the chair has less cushioning than I had imagined but still seems to be comfortable for my son. Now I mentioned that I have a 1.5 year old - boy. This means that we don't do a lot of sitting still. He likes to run to his chair and plop in - the chair however is pretty light and gets pushed when he does so. To counter this we pushed the chair against the wall, but then he seems to hit his head a lot when he leans back. He is also working on learning to sit properly which means fidgeting, rocking, and climbing, because of the light weight it seems to tip over backwards pretty easily for him. We don't allow him to jump in the chair or climb on it, and he is supervised while using it, but I find he often pushes on the back to climb in, turn around and get situated. When he does this calmly it's not a problem, but when he's got some energy behind him, he tips the chair over. I should note that I am the one who doesn't like the chair tipping, my son finds it hillariously fun, the result more pushing and rocking.I do like this chair and am keeping it as I know it will be great in the future when my son has learned to sit better but for now it's in hiding.I would offer caution to parents who have very active children like mine who are still learning to sit properly. I know this will sound silly to some, but I know some of you will understand.* I have purchased a Harmony Kids standard Rocker for my active learner. It's not as cute but works better for us. The fact that it rocks has kept it from going over backwards it seems. My disclaimer being that I supervise my son and have not allowed him to explore the limits of this chair.

great booster seat for older toddlers, but didn't live long

My child is 2 and a half years old, and he is about 36 inches tall. We have a 4 inch vertical rim around the table, so finding a booster seat was a bit tricky for us. Other booster seats are made to be fastened to the back of the chair, so child would seat with his feet rested on the protruding part of the chair and his knees would be higher then the rim and not fit under the table, and if he would try to dangle his legs down, the hard edge of the chair would make him feel uncomfortable. The Oxo seat can be moved forward to the front edge of the chair thus eliminating the problem.My child can climb up and down on the seat with little effort. The seat has large rubber feet that effectively prevent the seat from sliding if any weight is applied to the seat. It is much narrower then the chair, so there is a "step" for my child to climb on and off.My son loves the new seat, he can move it to different chairs all by himself, so he can choose where to sit any time, which makes him very happy.Edit - after about four months one side of the cushion (where my son climbs on) started to deteriorate, the shiny surface is damaged there, and you can see the underlining porous foam. Dirt gets in there, and it is impossible to remove. My son is not even close to outgrowing it.

Awesome Booster

We love love love this booster. My daughter is 27 months old and 37" tall, and this is a perfect booster for her. Now even at snack time she wants to sit in her chair and not run around the house.I have tried a couple of other boosters and high chairs to bring her up to the table but our table has a 3 - 4" rim around the edge, which means the seat, let alone her little legs wouldn't fit under the table.We also have very padded vinyl seats that are quite curvy, and this booster sits on top no worries, no slips or spills!Another bonus is the easy wipe clean, and the back folds down to allow for easy carry, so instead of buying a booster for at home AND a booster for when we travel I can use this for both.The color of the pink, is definitely pink, not the purple as pictured.Highly recommend.

My 3 and a half year old is using this at the dining room table. I was worried that it would not stay on the chair, given there's no strap for securing it, but the "no skid" feature actually works so well on our chairs (vinyl diner-style) that it hasn't so much as vaguely threatened to topple even once even with her wiggling and periodically trying to stand in her seat. (no no!) It gives her a good boost plus freedom to move around, so getting her to sit in it is not a problem. The appearance is very neat and minimalist, not goofy and loud, which is a definite plus too. And it is very lightweight, and easy to clean.
